  • Mr. Murray is a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association (2001-2002).  He twice co-chaired the statewide Family Law Institute (2001, 1994) attended by more than 400 lawyers, judges, and family law mental health experts and experts in all relevant fields.  Mr. Murray teaches lawyers and judges: he has spoken locally and nationally at more than 100 CLEs (Continuing Legal Education courses) on topics of Interstate and International Child Custody, Colorado Family Law and Domestic Relations Divorce and Post-Divorce Litigation, Child Family Investigators (CFI), Special Advocates, Criminal Law Issues, Restraining and Protection Orders, Domestic Violence, Trial Tactics, Evidence Issues, Technology In and Out of The Courtroom, Family Law Ethics, and many other topics.
  • Criminal Law representation by Murray ranges from ordinance violations to misdemeanors, and felonies.  The work in criminal law ranges from the seemingly simple traffic and minor theft-type crimes to the far greater charges (with their far-greater consequences) and concerns present in charges such as domestic violence, assault, battery, kidnapping, and attempted murder, and the more white collar-type crimes involving fraud, theft, and forgery.  The firm also handles drinking and driving offenses (DUI, DWAI) and all forms of traffic charges.
  • Russel is a twenty-six year member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee and created and chaired the CBA Family Law Section Ethics Committee (1993-2003).  Additionally, he is a 30 + year member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Family Law Section (Child Custody Practice and Procedures Committee; International Law Committee;  Ethics Committee); the ABA International Law Section (Family Law Committee; International Mediation Committee); the ABA Center For Professional Responsibility; the International Society of Family Law (ISFL); the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL); the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (CCDB); and the Adams/Broomfield (Chair, Family Law Committee), Arapahoe, and Douglas County Bar Associations.
  • For 21 consecutive years he has been listed as an AV lawyer in Martindale-Hubbell an honor reflecting legal knowledge and ability as well as ethical practices and procedures, bestowed upon lawyers by the judges before whom they appear and by their peers against whom they litigate and try cases.  He is also listed as an International Family Law attorney in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

  • Named by Lawyers Weekly USA as one of its Ten Top Lawyers of the Year in 2001 for his seminal work in federal court on a highly-contested Hague Convention abduction case, Murray has also been featured in USA Today, the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, KMGH Channel 7 (Denver), and in various specialty publications such as FCW and Civic.com.
